bakery * coffee * breakfast & lunch
Established in 2014 by husband and wife team Chris & Julie, Bad tempered baker is a cafe & bakery based in Leith, Edinburgh.
We bake all of our signature cakes, brownies & tray bakes in house using high quality ingredients such as Belgian dark chocolate and fresh eggs from local farms. Everything is made by hand by our small team of bakers. We sell in store, via the website, at Stockbridge Market and we supply some other cafes around Edinburgh. If you would like a cake made for your next special event, have a look at our cake menu and contact us below.
Small in size but BIG on flavour. The cafe has a big kitchen which gives us plenty of room to not only bake amazing cakes, but to also cook and prepare our breakfasts and lunches from scratch. Again we use the best ingredients and make everything by hand. Our salad boxes have become very popular along with our homemade soup and sandwiches. We use meat from local butchers and roast a gammon joint every day to accompany our salads. We serve a single estate speciality santos roast coffee which is full of flavour and cuts perfectly with milk for an amazing flat white. Our luxury hot chocolate if from the cocoa tree in Pittenweem and our tea is from Eteaket.
We love baking cakes for all occasions. Above are some images from the wedding of James and Louise. For this event we made a trio of cakes in a simple, colourful and contemporary style. We baked a cheesecake topped with fresh fruit, a double chocolate cake and a Victoria sponge decorated with 100s and thousands.
We learned after that the cakes were so good, that the bride and groom didn't actually get to eat any of them as the guests beat them to it! Our ethos is simple, to never skimp on flavour and to provide beautiful timeless looking cakes. Follow our link below to see our menu.
